About

Travel SIM Review exists because most "best eSIM" listicles repeat the provider's marketing. We read the fine print instead: the fair-use limit behind "unlimited", the hotspot cap, the refund rule, the ID check, and which local network the plan actually runs on.

How we review

1. Prices from the source. Every price on this site comes from the provider's own website or published rates, checked on the date shown on the page. We compare like with like — usually 10 GB for 30 days in the same country — and we re-check when we update a page.
2. Networks named. A travel eSIM is only as good as the local network it uses, so we say which one each plan runs on where the provider tells us, and whether you can switch networks once you've installed it.
3. The fine print. Daily fair-use caps, hotspot limits, data expiry, top-ups, refunds, ID requirements and whether you need an app. These are the things that decide whether a cheap plan is actually cheap.
4. Hands-on where we've done it. When we've bought a plan, installed it, topped it up or contacted support ourselves, the review says so and reports what happened, including how long support took to reply. When we haven't, the review says that too.

We don't publish speed-test results yet. Speed depends mostly on the local network, and a single test tells you little about the next town. When we do publish them, we'll show where and when each test was run.

How we score

Every provider is scored across five dimensions on a 0-5 scale:

• Coverage — country count and quality of partner networks.
• Value — price per GB versus the competition.
• Ease of use — install flow, app polish, top-up friction.
• Support — the channels and hours on offer, plus response time and quality where we've opened a ticket ourselves.
• Overall — tracks the average of the four scores. We may nudge it slightly for things they don't capture, such as hotspot limits, payment options or ID checks, but never for brand size or how long a provider has been around.

What we don't do

We don't accept free plans in exchange for reviews. We don't take cash payments for placement on the comparison or any "best for" page. We don't allow a provider to preview, edit, or veto our review.

Why we built this

The travel eSIM market grew up faster than the review market around it. Most listicles rank providers by commission and skip the details that matter once you land: which network you're on, what happens when the "unlimited" data slows down, and whether you can top up. We thought travellers deserved better.
